Around the year 1960, I read Childhood’s End. I think Stanley Kubrick should have used the Childhood’s End instead of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Watching this adaptation, I was pleased by how faithful it was to the original Arthur C. Clarke novel. Granted, the UN Secretary-General was turned into a farmer from Missouri, but it still works. It’s one of the best science fiction movies I’ve seen.
